Federal Officers?
Why do they call border patrol agents federal officers when they are agents. When I passed the border patrol checkpoint the other day, there was a sign before we approached that said caution stop ahead “Federal Officers.” Just wondering because they are federal law enforcement officers. So I guess all federal law enforcement officers are police so they can also be federal police officers. I also saw a border patrol agent with a t-shirt that read “police” federal agent. It does not sound right right when we speak to say police agent because we are used to hearing police officer, so I guess they would be Ok saying they are federal police officers. Officer/Agent same thing in my eyes. This is also correct with California Highway Patrol Officers, they can also say they are state police officers.
The word Agent and Officer are interchangable. Special Agents however will beg to differ since they have large egos.
