Woodland is giving a flat 40 per cent off on all apparels and up to 50 per cent off on all footwear. “A lot of customers are coming in since the sale has been announced and purchasing footwear and garments,” says Sakshi Mehta, manager of Woodland.
Bigjos announces its freedom sale, up to 50 per cent off on most items. Adidas and Levis are not far behind. Adidas had all its stuff out on a sale for flat 40 per cent off and selected stores in Malviya Nagar, Kalkaji and Lajpat Nagar had offers for 20 per cent off on accessories and up to 50 per cent off on garments and footwear. “The sale was on from August 10 to 16, and a lot of stuff which was not gaining consumer’s attention, got sold during the sale,” says Vinod Varoliya, store manager, Adidas.

End of season (summer-end, winter-end) sales are not new to the city. Retail experts say a discount works for the customer psyche. “It gives buyers the courage to enter and explore. Once they get a taste, they come back for more. It breeds new customers,” says Shashi Sharma of Woodland, Saket.
“I haven’t seen such sales before. There are offers and offers one after the other which are just so irresistible. I got a fabulous bag from Adidas, which I always wanted to get but couldn’t afford. The bag was for Rs 3200 and I got it for Rs 1920 in the sale,” cheers Sneha, a shopaholic.
It is important to know how one should shop in ’sales time’
1 You need to know the market, to understand whether the discount is really as much as being promised or there are hidden costs.
2 You usually can’t exchange stuff bought during a sale.
3 Is it really worth it to buy three shirts for the price of two, when they look almost the same? Or you may not want the half-its-original price salwar-kameez at all!
4 Avoid rush hours – in evenings, weekends and the last day of the sale. You have a better chance of shopping well if you go when few others are expected.
5 Keep a check on your temper. The crowd, the chaos, the hours are going to make you want to snap.
6 Don’t buy anything you wouldn’t usually wear just because it’s cheap. This seems like common sense but we all know how tempting it can be to buy for the sake of it sometimes.
7 If there is an awful lot of one particular skirt or dress left, there’s bound to be a reason why. That reason is unlikely to be that no-one else has spotted them but it might be that they’re a funny fit. So think before just picking it up.
