Originally referred to as the Boston Braves from 1912 to 1952, they were called Milwaukee Braves during 1953 through 1965. Prior to 1912, during the 1870s and 1880s the Boston team was known as “Red Stockings” and “Red Caps”; was touted as “Beaneaters” in the 1890s and early 1900s. The team was also nicknamed the “Doves” (1907-1910) and “Rustlers” in 1911.

During 1991 – 2005, the Braves has been one of the most successful franchises in baseball and won the divisional title 14 consecutive times during the time span. In regard to the World Series, the Braves advanced to it five times during 1990s and won the title during 1995. During their overall game history, the Braves have won 16 divisional titles, nine pennants in the years 1914, 1948, 1957, 1958, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1999 and three World Series championships – 1914 World Series as the Boston Braves – 1957 World Series as the Milwaukee Braves and in 1995 World Series while in Atlanta. They are the only Major League Baseball franchise team who has won the Series in 3 different home cities. The team also won four National Association pennants in the years 1872, 1873, 1874 and 1875.
